Sustainability Cash-Back Programs

The Town of Crested Butte is offering cash-back, also known as "rebates" to support our community in electrification, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, and waste reduction. Scroll the page below for our current program offerings!

Electric Outdoor Equipment Cash-Back Program

The following purchases of small electric outdoor equipment are eligible for this rebate for the indicated amounts. You can receive an extra 25% in rebate funding if you purchase your equipment at a local store in Gunnison County! Rebates may also be combined with Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA)'s outdoor power equipment rebates!
  • Riding Mowers: $750 (+$250 for local store purchase) = $1,000 possible
  • Walk-behind mowers: $130 (+$20 for local store purchase) = $150 possible
  • Snow blowers: $190 (+$60 for local store purchase) = $250 possible
  • Leaf blowers: $38 (+$12 for local store purchase) = $50 possible
  • Chainsaws: $75 (+$25 for local store purchase) = $100 possible
  • Trimmers: $38 (+12 for local store purchase) = $50 possible
  • Additional battery with original purchase: $25 (All purchases eligible for the full $25)
  • Pruners: $38 (+12 for local store purchase) =$50 possible
  • Power washers: $38 (+12 for local store purchase) = $50 possible

Rules & Instructions:

  • Recipients must own property or live within the Town of Crested Butte.
  • Purchases must be for new equipment only.
  •  Rebates will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Rebate funds are limited, and rebate amounts are subject to change. Rebate amounts listed are only eligible for 2024.
  • Limit of 1 rebate type per household. 2 rebates are allowed if also requesting funds for an additional battery with original purchase. Rebates may be combined with GCEA's outdoor power equipment rebates!
  • Rebates will be distributed via check. Please ensure your rebate form has the correct mailing address to avoid any administrative delays.
  • To apply, submit this electric outdoor equipment rebate form within 90 days of purchase AND all receipts or invoices must be emailed to sustainability@crestedbutte-co.gov with the submission of the rebate form. Include the subject line "Outdoor Electric Equipment Rebate [Last Name]" on the email.

 

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Cash-Back Program for Short Term Rental (STR) Properties

In 2024, property owners with an active Short Term Rental (STR) business license are eligible for funds to support the installation of a level 2, at-home EV charging station on their legal, conforming property.  Rebates are available in the amounts below:

  • Short Term Rentals (STRs): the Town will reimburse up to 50% of the total project cost, to a maximum of $1,250 (excludes taxes and shipping). With the 50% input from the Town of Crested Butte, and a 50% contribution from GCEA's EV Charging Rebate program, the purchase and installation costs of an EV charger is likely to be nearly or completely free!

Rules & Instructions: We highly encourage you review all terms and conditions of this rebate program before installing your charger.

  • STR property owners are only eligible for this rebate once they've applied to GCEA's EV charging rebate. Applicant must submit their GCEA Time of Use (TOU) application as proof that they've applied to GCEA's rebate program before receiving funds from the Town of Crested Butte's program.
  • Required documentation: All documents included below must be emailed to sustainability@crestedbutte-co.gov with the submission of the rebate form and include the subject line "STR EV Charging Rebate [Address_Last Name]" on the email.
    • All receipts or invoices for EV charger unit and any labor costs.
    • Photos of the final, installed equipment, and the parking space where cars will charge.
    • A copy of your GCEA Time of Use (TOU) application (you'll receive a copy of this form from GCEA once you've applied to their rebate).
  • Rebates will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Rebates are not guaranteed with a submitted form. If there is a high demand, a waitlist will be initiated for 2025. Rebate funds are not guaranteed with a submitted form. Rebate amounts listed are only eligible for 2024, are limited, and are subject to change.
  • Limit of 1 rebate per property. Portable EV chargers do not qualify for the rebate.
  • Property must be located within the Town of Crested Butte, and must be a legal, conforming property. The physical location of the EV charger and the parking spot where an EV driver will charge must be located on your private property. Charging cords or equipment must not obstruct a public right of way at any time. 
  • Rebates will be distributed via check. Please ensure your rebate form has the correct mailing address to avoid any administrative delays.
  • Interested parties must submit this Short Term Rental Property EV Charger Rebate Form within 90 days of installation.

Climate Responsible Special Events Cash-Back Program

Event holders who participate in our Climate Responsible Special Events (CRSE) program are eligible to apply for cash rebates to fund purchases of goods or services that help them to meet the requirements of that program. Please visit our Special Events webpage to learn more!
