Town Departments

The Town of Crested Butte provides many services and programs for residents and visitors. If you need information concerning a particular Town function or service, click on the appropriate department listed below or choose from the list on the left side of the screen. You may also use the search feature on the lower left side of the screen to find specific information.

Marshal's department: 970-349-5231

Administration/Clerk:

Responsible for overall city administration and operations. Key staff members include the Town Manager, Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk. Contact this department for  policy questions, Town Council information, special events permits, liquor licenses, election information, Crested Butte Cemetery information and for Municipal Court. 

Building Department:

Responsible for the design review process, compliance with the Town's zoning code, issuance and administration of building permits, and historic preservation. Key Staff members include the Building and Zoning Director, Building Inspector and the Design Review Coordinator. Contact this department for construction related questions, zoning information and questions regarding the Board of Zoning and Architectural Review (BOZAR).

Finance Department:

Responsible for all the financial and accounting operations of the Town. Contact this department for information regarding sales tax, accounts payable and receivable, water/sewer/trash billing, use tax, real estate transfer tax, business licenses and dog licenses. The Finance department also serves as the human resource office. 

Marshal's Department:

Responsible for public safety and enforcement of the criminal and civil laws of the Town.

Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails:

Responsible for Town recreation programs, management and maintenance of Town parks and recreation facilities, open space and trail stewardship. Contact this department for information regarding recreation programs and to sign up for fun activities.

Planning and Community Development Department:

Responsible for current and long range Town planning and special planning projects. Also responsible for GIS mapping and analysis.

The Streets Division of the Public Works Department: 

Responsible for the streets and alleys of the Town, including street maintenance and snow plowing. 

The Water and Wastewater Divisions of the Public Works Department:

Responsible for the treatment and distribution of potable water and the collection and treatment of wastewater. The Department also administers the Watershed Protection Program, including the Watershed Ordinance,which requires permits for construction and other activities in the Town Watershed.
